According to The Enterprise World, Hitchcock blends journalism, filmmaking, and content strategy to highlight social, environmental, and historical issues, aiming to spark awareness and meaningful change.

Greg Hitchcock is a seasoned professional who began his career as an editorial intern at Empire State Report and Empire News Exchange in the late 1990s. Since then, he has been a reporter for several weekly and daily news publications including The Cambridge Eagle, The Leader Herald, and The Ballston Journal.

In 2024, Hitchcock managed a small newsroom in rural eastern Montana as the Editor for The Sidney Herald where he improved news programming to include social media, videography, photography, and e-newsletters.

Hitchcock received many journalism awards including Best Feature Writing (2025) from the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association, and an Honorable Mention: Film (2014) from Full Sail University and the embassies of France among other achievements.

As Mad in America notes, Hitchcock is “determined to highlight the experiences of people struggling to be heard,” whether through journalism or documentary filmmaking. His podcast Striking Down Stigma aims to reduce stigma through guest interviews.

Hitchcock is the author of Schizophrenia in the Army (2012), Stories of Stigma (2023), and his latest The Spirit trilogy. He is busy writing his third book Learn from Stress: Tips from the Front Lines.
